My paid subsribers are in a for a special treat. Lindy Misomali is a young Malawian woman that I have known since she was a toddler. She recently graduated, with distinction, from St John the Baptist University, but even with a first class business administration degree she is struggling to find a job.

The formal economy in Malawi is tiny, and unless you are very well connected, it is hard to make a breakthrough into a career. I asked Lindy to tell us about her struggle to get her first job. She has agreed to write regular (paid) articles for us, describing her life in Malawi.

Let her know if there is anything you want to know more about.

Introduction

In a world where education is often hailed as the key to unlocking opportunities, the harsh reality for many in Malawi, including myself, is a stark reminder that having a great degree doesn't guarantee a job. As I share my personal journey, I aim to shed light on the challenges of finding employment in Malawi and the harsh realities of survival in a country where job opportunities are scarce.
